Rust Bleeding Through Stucco? Home Shield Coating® Offers a Permanent Solution

Stu faced a frustrating problem: rust spots bleeding through his stucco. This issue, often caused by thinly applied stucco, plagued several homes in his Ormond Beach, Florida community. Local painters offered temporary fixes, but the rust always reappeared within a few months. One neighbor even had to resort to expensive full-home re-stuccoing. After researching solutions, Stu discovered Home Shield Coating®. We specialize in addressing rust bleed-through in stucco walls, and this post details how our team applied Home Shield Coating® to Stu’s home. (See the video of the application here.)

Home Shield’s 11-Step Process for Stucco

Our eleven-step application process ensures Home Shield Coating® endures for decades on stucco surfaces. Proper preparation is paramount for successful stucco coating. The process, which took five days for Stu’s home, typically requires 5 to 6 days due to the meticulous steps involved in applying this commercial-grade, permanent coating. Home Shield Coating® can be customized to any color from any paint manufacturer, ensuring compliance with HOA color approvals.

A Permanent Fix for Ormond Beach Homes

Local Ormond Beach, FL painters couldn’t permanently resolve Stu’s rust bleed-through. Some problems demand a high-grade, permanent coating solution. Our application process begins with power washing the stucco, including a pre-soak with our specialized cleaning solution. This solution eliminates mold, mildew, and lifts dirt, grease, and grime. We then use a moisture meter to ensure the stucco is ready for Home Shield Coating® application.

Bonding Agent (Primer) and Topcoat

After washing and crack repairs, we meticulously mask off windows and other areas to protect them from overspray. Next, we apply our Bonding Agent (Primer) to all surfaces to be coated and allow it to dry overnight.

The following morning, we apply the Home Shield Coating® topcoat. We begin with the soffit, fascia, and gutters, then move to the window trims. Finally, we spray the main body color, carefully covering the freshly painted trims to protect them from overspray.

A Smart Investment for Long-Term Home Maintenance

Home Shield Coating® is the ideal solution for coating and protecting stucco homes for decades. With its 30-year transferable warranty and 10-year labor guarantee, it offers a smart, cost-saving approach to long-term home maintenance.
